Costa Rica Eco-Adventure & Beach Singles Vacation Itinerary
Zip through the clouds, explore tropical rainforests, enjoy river adventures, discover Costa Rica's wildlife and relax on beautiful Pacific beaches.
Arrive in San Jose, where you will be met at Juan Santamaria International Airport and transferred to the group hotel. Meet your fellow travelers and tour leader during an optional Welcome Dinner at the restaurant located inside the hotel.
Depart San Jose for Tortuguero National Park on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. Travel through the spectacular rainforest scenery of Braulio Carrillo National Park and admire the beautiful Rio Sucio before stopping in Guápiles for breakfast.
Continue to Caño Blanco and board a river boat for an exciting two-hour journey through the waterways toward Tortuguero. Watch for tropical vegetation and wildlife along the way before arriving at the lodge in time for lunch.
Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool, kayaking or exploring the lodge and its surroundings.
After breakfast, explore Tortuguero National Park by boat. The park protects an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including monkeys, amphibians, tropical birds, marine turtles, tapirs, ocelots, jaguars, sloths, toucans and other native species.
Cruise the wide canals while watching for crocodiles, iguanas, basilisk lizards, hawks, vultures and caimans along the waterways and surrounding rainforest.
After lunch at the lodge, visit Tortuguero town and the Caribbean Conservation Center. Explore the small island community and walk toward Tortuguero Beach, an important nesting area for endangered green sea turtles.
In the evening, there is an optional boat ride into town where you can experience local nightlife, dancing or karaoke.
Enjoy an early breakfast before taking the boat back to Caño Blanco, where private transportation will be waiting for the journey to the Arenal area.
After lunch, continue toward La Fortuna and enjoy your first full view of the impressive Arenal Volcano. The volcano became active again during the major 1968 eruption and has long been one of Costa Rica's most recognizable natural landmarks.
Spend the morning exploring La Fortuna and visiting La Fortuna Waterfall. Walk through the forest to the impressive 230-foot waterfall. Adventurous travelers can descend the steep steps toward the base, where there is a natural swimming area.
Next comes a tubing adventure. The full tubing course is approximately 500 meters long, while a shorter lower section offers an alternative for travelers who prefer an easier ride.
After the day's adventures, relax in naturally heated mineral springs and thermal pools. Finish the experience with dinner at Ecotermales.
After breakfast, board a pontoon boat for approximately 40 minutes across Lake Arenal to Río Chiquito. After a short break, continue by road to the hotel in Monteverde.
Monteverde's famous cloud forest is known for conservation and extraordinary biodiversity, with hundreds of bird species, numerous mammals and thousands of plant and insect species.
This afternoon experience the forest canopy on a zipline adventure. Sky Trek combines forest trails, suspension bridges, observation platforms and zip lines, offering spectacular views above and through the tropical canopy.
Before leaving Monteverde, spend several hours hiking through the reserve and experiencing its remarkable cloud forest. Well-maintained trails provide access through the area's diverse elevations and tropical landscape.
Continue from Monteverde to Manuel Antonio and check into the group's resort. Spend the remainder of the day swimming, relaxing beside the pool or enjoying views of the Pacific Ocean.
Sleep late or join a morning nature walk of approximately two and a half hours. Discover the area's tropical plants and wildlife while learning about the history of the Quepoa Indians and the Manuel Antonio region.
Spend the rest of the day enjoying the area's beautiful white-sand beaches. Activities available along the coast include surfing, sunbathing, kayaking and parasailing.
Tonight the singles group can experience the local nightlife.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time at the hotel or beach before transferring back to San Jose. Keep an eye out for the monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans and other wildlife found throughout the tropical surroundings.

This is an active vacation that combines sightseeing with outdoor experiences. Travelers should be comfortable walking, using boats and other transportation, exploring nature trails, and spending time outdoors in warm and humid conditions.
Activities during the trip can include nature walks, a visit to La Fortuna Waterfall, tubing, thermal springs, cloud forest exploration, suspension bridges, and a zipline canopy experience. Manuel Antonio also provides opportunities for beach activities and additional outdoor adventures.
Some activities may involve uneven terrain, stairs, or moderate physical activity, so comfortable walking shoes and reasonable mobility are recommended.
Costa Rica is famous for its biodiversity, and several stops on this itinerary provide excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Depending on location, season, and a little luck, travelers may see monkeys, sloths, toucans, macaws, iguanas, crocodiles, caimans, tropical birds, and many other native species.
Tortuguero is especially known for its rainforest waterways and wildlife, while Manuel Antonio is another excellent area for spotting monkeys, sloths, birds, and other tropical animals. Wildlife sightings are natural experiences and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Costa Rica has a tropical climate, but conditions can vary significantly between the Caribbean coast, mountain and cloud forest regions, and Pacific coast. Travelers should be prepared for warm temperatures, humidity, sunshine, and occasional rain.
Higher-elevation areas such as Monteverde can feel cooler, especially in the evening, while Tortuguero and Manuel Antonio are generally warmer and more humid. Lightweight clothing and layers work well for the changing environments encountered during the trip.
Pack lightweight and breathable clothing along with comfortable walking or hiking shoes. A light rain jacket or poncho is useful for rainforest and cloud forest areas, and a light layer is recommended for cooler evenings in Monteverde.
You should also consider bringing swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a small daypack for excursions. Water-friendly footwear can also be useful for activities around rivers, waterfalls, beaches, and hot springs.
Yes. Although the itinerary includes many organized experiences, the vacation also includes opportunities to slow down and enjoy Costa Rica. Depending on the day, travelers may have time to relax at the hotel or pool, enjoy the thermal springs, explore at an easier pace, or spend time along the Pacific coast.
Manuel Antonio provides an especially nice balance between sightseeing and relaxation, with time to enjoy its tropical surroundings and beaches.
Costa Rica offers an incredible variety of experiences, but visiting its rainforests, national parks, mountain regions, waterways, and beaches involves coordinating transportation, accommodations, tours, and activities across several parts of the country.
Traveling with an organized singles group takes care of much of that planning while giving you people to share the experience with. Instead of worrying about the logistics, you can focus on Costa Rica's wildlife, scenery, adventure activities, beaches, and the new friendships that develop during the journey.
